After months of contentious negotiations, retired NBA superstar Kobe Bryant has purchased the rights to the Air Bud franchise from Universal Studios and announced plans to revamp the series with more personal plotlines.

Bryant stated, “We all know Air Bud’s a star on the court, but what about off it? What happens when he comes to grips with the fact that his glory days are over and he’s forced to confront the real world? That’s what we hope to explore.”

Bryant announced he would release a three part series entitled Air Bud: The Next Chapter that follows the curiously talented Golden Retriever after his retirement from youth sports. Part 1, entitled Air Bud: Working the 9 to 5, has already been greenlit for next summer, while Air Bud: The Big Divorce and Air Bud: Dead Broke are reportedly in the works.

When Mr. Bryant was asked whether the stories should be seen as a biographical, he responded, “I think we all feel like a Golden Retriever sometimes…” to a puzzled crowd.
